Police investigating the robbery of a south-west Sydney retail outlet last year have released CCTV footage of a person who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

About 4pm on Sunday 18 December 2011, an unknown man entered the music store on North Terrace, Bankstown.

While two male employees – aged 21 and 19 – were at the rear of the store, the man went behind the counter and took a sum of cash from the register. Before fleeing, the man assaulted the 21-year-old staff member.

The 19-year-old employee chased the man, catching up with him a short time later.

The man assaulted the second staff member before running and catching a taxi from the northern side of Bankstown train station.

Detectives have released CCTV images of a person who they would like to speak to in relation to the matter.

The person depicted in the images is described as being male, of Caucasian appearance, about 188cm tall, slim build and with short hair. About 30 to 40 years old, he is shown wearing a striped polo shirt and thick frame glasses. He was carrying a floppy hat.
