Police are continuing investigations into an armed robbery and shooting at Bonville earlier in the year.

About 10pm, Tuesday 28 February 2012, two men, aged 25 and 35, attended Butler Road at Bonville to meet a man and purchase a quad bike and dirt bike.

They were met by three men, armed with rifles, who threatened them and demanded cash.

During the incident one of the men was struck with the rifle before the armed men stole cash and fled in a white 1990 model Nissan Pintara.

The two men returned to their vehicle and gave chase following the Nissan towards Glenniffer Road where a number of shots were fired at their vehicle.

The stolen Nissan Pintara was later located in Gleniffer Road and seized by police for forensic examination. An amount of blood located inside the vehicle is now being tested for DNA comparison.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter O’Reilly from Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command said investigations were advancing but police still need public assistance.

“Detectives are interested in hearing from anyone who saw the white Nissan Pintara in the vicinity of Butler and Glenniffer Road during the evening of Tuesday 28 February 2012.

“We have released photographs of the Nissan and hope someone might have seen the car parked or being driven around the area and have information about who was driving it.

“There is a possibility that those involved in the robbery may have been injured and attended local medical centres or chemists for treatment or medical supplies.

“Anyone with friends or family who had unexplained injuries around this time is urged to contact police,” said Detective Senior Sergeant O’Reilly.

A 24-year-old Armidale man is currently before the courts for his alleged involvement in the robbery.

He was charged with robbery in company whilst armed with a dangerous weapon and is due to appear in Coffs Harbour Local Court on Tuesday 24 July 2012.
