Police are investigating the armed robbery of a newsagency in Sydney’s southwest this afternoon.

About 12.30pm (Wednesday 5 September), a man armed with a knife entered the business on Padstow Parade in Padstow.

The man threatened the 25-year-old employee and demanded cash.

The worker handed over a sum of money and was not injured.

The armed man ran from the shop.

Police from Bankstown Local Area Command established a crime scene and a description of the offender circulated to officers across the area.

Officers from the Dog Unit were also called to the scene but the man has not been found.

He is described as being of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean appearance, 35 to 40 years of age, 180 to 185cm tall, skinny build and wearing a black t-shirt with a white print on the front, blue jeans and white runners.
