Police are investigating following an armed robbery that occurred at a restaurant in Toowoomba last night.

Around 9.30pm, two males have entered the Ruthven Street restaurant, one of them producing a knife.

They have made demands for cash from staff and also demanded the keys to one of the staff member’s cars.

The two males have then punched two staff before leaving the restaurant with a cash register and the keys to a car.

Police have sighted the car as it turned into a retirement village on Donahue Street, and the vehicle crashed into a retaining wall a short time later.

Two males fled from the car, but were both apprehended by police a short time later.

The two men who were assaulted were treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries.

A 16-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man are currently assisting police with their enquiries.

Investigations are continuing.
