North Brisbane CIB detectives have charged a 38-year-old man following investigations into the armed robbery of a supermarket at Carseldine on Saturday.

It will be alleged around 11.40am a man threatened a female employee with a hammer at the Gympie Road store.

The man allegedly stole a cash drawer before fleeing the scene.

A 38-year-old Stafford Heights man has been charged with one count of armed robbery and two counts of possessing a dangerous drug.

He will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
