A man has received serious injuries after he was assaulted and robbed by two men in North Mackay overnight.
Initial investigations indicate shortly after midnight, the man had left a nearby bowls club and was walking along Kenzey Street when he was approached by two unknown men who seriously assaulted him and stole his wallet and mobile phone.
The pair ran off leaving him with serious head and chest injuries.
The 57-year-old man managed to make it to a nearby service station where he contacted police.
He has been taken to the Mackay Base Hospital for treatment.
