Police from the Leichhardt Local Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding an armed robbery in Glebe overnight.

About 12.40am (Tuesday 9 October, 2012) two men, one armed with a machete, and the other with a meat cleaver, forced their way into a hotel on Glebe Point Road.

Once inside, the two men, who had their faces covered, threatened a staff member and demanded money.

The staff member was unable to access the safe and called to other staff members who were still on the premises.

The two men grabbed one of the staff’s iPhone’s before running from the hotel with no cash.

They were last seen running north on Glebe Point Road heading towards the Anzac Bridge.

A crime scene was established at the location and detectives from Leichhardt will continue their investigations.

No one was injured during the robbery.
