Detectives investigating the armed robbery of a hotel in Sydney’s east earlier this month have arrested and charged a man.
Just before 10pm on Tuesday 9 October 2012, two men entered a hotel on Oxford Street, Paddington, and confronted a male employee.
The armed men threatened the employee before demanding he give them money from the cash registers and a safe.
They fled with a sum of cash and police were alerted.
Strike Force Cheero – comprising officers from the Metropolitan Robbery Unit – was established to investigate the robbery.
Following inquiries, a 31-year-old man was arrested by police from the Public Transport Command today (Wednesday 17 October 2012).
He was taken to Surry Hills Police Station where he was charged with robbery whilst armed with a dangerous weapon.
Kings Cross Police also charged the man with break, enter and steal, relating to the alleged break-in of a hotel in Darlinghurst on 15 October 2012.
The man was refused bail to appear before Central Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 18 October 2012).
