Police have arrested a man following an attempt aggravated robbery in the city overnight.

Just after 6.30pm a man entered a restaurant in Moonta Street allegedly armed with a knife and threatened a staff member. 

The suspect demanded money but fled on foot empty handed. 

Police were quickly on the scene and commenced a search of the area. 

A short time later police located the suspect in Currie Street allegedly with the knife still in his possession. 

A 34-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with attempted aggravated robbery.
