Police are appealing for information after a robbery at a western Sydney supermarket overnight.

About 8.15pm yesterday (Wednesday 14 November 2012), a man with a firearm entered the supermarket on Excelsior Street Guildford and threatened a 67-year-old male employee and a female customer.

The man was given a quantity of cash and cigarettes before he ran from the store.

He was last seen running along Excelsior Street and turning left into Prost Place.

The supermarket employee and the customer were not physically injured during the robbery.

The man has been described to police as being of medium build and 175cm tall.

He was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket, dark tracksuit pants with white stripes and white joggers.

The man kept his face covered during the robbery.
