A 15-year-old boy will face court today after allegedly trying to steal from two businesses in Sydney’s west using a pair of scissors.

About 5.50 pm on 30 May 2011, the teenager allegedly entered a supermarket at a shopping centre on The Parkway, Bradbury, and stole a pair of scissors.

The boy then allegedly walked into a bakery in the same shopping centre and cut the cord on the cash register. In doing so, he blacked out the shop.

Police will allege the teenager intended to take the register from the bakery. However, he was chased from the business, leaving without the register.

A short time later, the boy allegedly entered a nearby tobacconist and used the scissors to demand cash from an employee.

The employee pressed a panic alarm, which sounded a siren in the shop. The teenager fled with no money.

Both offences were captured on CCTV cameras inside the shopping centre.

Following a police investigation, the teenager, who is from Airds, presented at Campbelltown Police Station about 10.35pm last night (8 June).

He was arrested and charged with larceny, armed with intent to commit indictable offence, attempted robbery whilst armed with offensive weapon, and breach of bail.

The teenager was refused bail to appear in Campbelltown Children’s Court today (9 June).
