Police are searching for a man following an alleged axe attack in Sydney’s west this morning.

About 8.45am (Friday 10 June 2011), police were called to a service station on Luxford Road, Mt Druitt, following reports of an assault.

Police were told two men became involved in a verbal argument whilst at the location, and one man assaulted the other with the blunt side of an axe.

A 34-year-old man suffered an ear injury as a result. He was treated by Ambulance Paramedics and taken to Mt Druitt Hospital in a stable condition.

Police continued their investigations into the incident and are searching for a man they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He is described as being Mediterranean/Middle Eastern in appearance, about 185cm tall and of solid build.

He may be driving a dark silver 4WD.
