Police are conducting inquiries after a man was stabbed at Fairfield, in Sydney’s west, this afternoon.

The man received a minor laceration to the back in the incident outside a tattoo shop on Harris Street, Fairfield, about 1.45pm today.

An off-duty nurse rendered assistance to the injured man until NSW Ambulance Paramedics arrived.

Police from Fairfield Local Area Command have secured a crime scene, which will be examined by forensics officers.

Officers are currently speaking with witnesses and have stepped up patrols of the local area in a bid to locate the offender or offenders.

Inquiries are continuing.
