Five youths have been arrested by police investigating the armed street robbery of a man in Sydney’s inner-west.

About 9.30pm yesterday (Saturday 14 May), a 19-year-old man was walking along The Boulevard at Strathfield when a grey Toyota pulled up alongside him.

Four males jumped out of the vehicle and threatened the man with a knife before stealing a significant sum of money.

They then got back into the car, being driven by a fifth male, and left the scene.

Police from Flemington Local Area Command responded to the incident.

A description of the vehicle was circulated via police radio and it was stopped by officers attached to Burwood LAC on The Crescent at Summer Hill a short time later.

The five occupants of the vehicle were arrested at the scene and taken to Auburn Police Station.

Cash, believed to be the proceeds of the robbery, was also allegedly found hidden under a seat.

It’s expected the youths, all aged 16 and 17, will be charged with aggravated robbery offences.

Inquiries are continuing.
