Police are appealing for information following an armed robbery at a convenience store in Ardeer this morning.

Investigators have been told a man entered the Fitzgerald Road store about 2am and asked for cigarettes.

The store attendant handed over cigarettes, asking for payment at which time the offender allegedly produced a handgun.

The bandit fled the store with cigarettes east down The Avenue.

He is described to be Caucasian, in his mid 20s wearing a black hoodie and sunglasses.
