Detectives are seeking information following the armed robbery of a taxi driver in Caulfield North early this morning.
The taxi driver had dropped off a fare on Alma Road just after midnight. He then did a u turn and observed two men flagging down his cab.
The first man entered the taxi via the front passenger door wearing a balaclava and it’s alleged he produced a firearm and placed it against the drivers head.
The second man got into the back of the cab wearing a stocking over his head and allegedly put a box cutter against the throat of the driver.
The offenders then allegedly demanded money so the victim handed over his wallet, some cash and his mobile phone.
The two offenders then took off on foot along Orrong Crescent in a southerly direction.
The 52-year-old taxi driver from Nunawading South was uninjured and reported the incident to police immediately.
