Detectives investigating nine armed robberies across south-western and central Sydney this year have now charged six men over their alleged involvement.
Strike Force Plasto, comprising officers from the Metropolitan Robbery Unit, was formed to investigate the armed robberies of licensed premises, bottle shops, brothels and convenience stores.
Following investigations by detectives attached to the strike force, three men were charged in May and June this year in relation to the alleged armed robbery of brothels.
A 27-year-old man was arrested yesterday (Thursday 25 August 2011) and subsequently charged with armed robbery offences. He has since appeared in court.
As a result of further inquiries, officers executed a search warrant at a home on Phillip Street, Roselands, earlier today (Friday 26 August 2011).
During the search police allegedly located and seized an amount of ammunition, steroids and a stun gun.
As a result of today’s investigation, four more men were arrested at different addresses in south-western Sydney.
The men, three aged 21 and a 22-year-old, were taken to Campsie Police Station where each was charged with numerous offences relating to their alleged involvement in the armed robberies.
All four were refused bail and are due to appear at Bankstown Local Court today (Friday 26 August 2011).
