Police are appealing for information following two armed robberies in Sydney’s west yesterday.
About 10pm, Tuesday 27 September 2011, a pizza delivery driver attended Halinda Avenue, Whalan, to make a delivery.
The man got out of his car with the pizza order when he was approached by four males.
Police have been told one of the males produced a double barrel sawn-off shotgun and threatened the delivery driver demanding he hand over cash.
He handed over his wallet, cash, mobile phone and keys while the robbers also stole a number of pizzas and soft drinks.
The four males were last seen running across Halinda Avenue into a laneway.
The 61-year-old man, who was not injured during the incident, drove back to the pizza store where he reported the robbery.
Police attended the scene and conducted a search of the area with the assistance of the police dog unit, however, the males were not located.
Mount Druitt Police are continuing their investigations into the robbery and are looking for the four males.
The first male is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, about 17 years old, 175cm tall with a slim build and wearing a black hooded top.
The second male is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, about 14 years old, 150cm tall with a slim build wearing a blue and grey hooded top and grey tracksuit pants.
The third male is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, about 15 years old, 160cm tall with a slim build wearing a blue hooded top and blue tracksuit pants.
The fourth male is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, about 15 years old and wearing a black hooded top and black tracksuit pants.
In the second incident, about 11:10pm, two males entered the petrol station on Luxford Road, Hassall Grove.
Police have been told one of males approached the counter and produced a shotgun while the other male stood guard at the front door of the petrol station.
The armed man demanded money and threatened the two attendants with the shotgun before stealing a sum of cash from the register.
The pair fled the store on foot while the employees triggered the alarms and police quickly attended the scene. The men were not injured during the robbery.
A crime scene was established and examined by officers from the Forensic Armed Robbery Unit.
Detectives from Mount Druitt Local Area Command are investigating both robberies and believe they may be linked.
