A 53-year-old man will appear in court following an investigation into five armed robberies on the Gold Coast this month.

It is alleged the man brandished a syringe and demanded money at a variety store in Nerang on October 6, a video store in Robina on October 8, a bakery in Palm Beach and a video store  in Mudgeeraba on October 10 and outside an Automatic Teller Machine in Ashmore on October 11.

Police located the man in Nerang yesterday afternoon.

The local man has been held in custody to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today.
