Police are investigating the armed robbery of a convenience store at Surfers Paradise in the early hours of this morning.

Preliminary investigations suggest around 4.40am a man entered the Surfers Paradise Boulevarde store via the front entrance and demanded cash while threatening the lone male attendant with a knife.

The attendant handed over a sum of cash from the till before the man fled the store.

No one was physically injured during the incident.

The man is described as of Caucasion appearance, 183cm tall with a thin build and red freckles on his hands. He was wearing a black hooded jumper with a white motif on the front, black pants, black boots and silver rimmed sunglasses.
