Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a man believed to be involved in the armed robbery of a taxi driver in Douglas early this morning.

Around 3.30am, a 61-year-old Hermit Park man was asleep in his vehicle parked on Riverside Boulevard, when a man entered the front seat, threatened him with a knife and demanded money.

The offender fled the scene with a sum of cash and the vehicle’s key and was last seen heading toward the Nathan Street Bridge.

The man is described as around 20-years old, approximately 177cm tall, of a slim build and Caucasian in appearance. He was wearing black pants and had a black stocking over his head.
