Patrons of a licensed club have arrested an alleged armed robber on the North Coast last night.
About 11pm (Saturday 12 November), two men with their faces covered with clothing entered the club on High Street at Bowraville.
The men, who were allegedly armed with a pair of scissors and a plank of wood, threatened staff and patrons before trying to steal alcohol and cash from behind the bar.
The manager of the club suffered a relatively minor wound as a result of being punched in the face by one of the men.
A patron approached the pair holding a chair and they began to run from the scene empty-handed.
One of the men managed to run away but the second man was detained by several of the club patrons.
Police were called and the 23-year-old man was arrested and taken to Kempsey Police Station.
A crime scene was established and the pair of scissors was seized for forensic examination.
Investigators have charged the man from Bowraville with armed robbery in company.
He will next appear in Port Macquarie Local Court tomorrow (Monday 14 November).
