Police are investigating the robbery of a man on a train in Sydney’s inner west yesterday.

The 19-year-old boarded the city-bound train at Lidcombe Railway Station around midday yesterday (20 May).

He was seated alone in the upper half of the carriage when he was approached by two male offenders, who demanded that he hand over his wallet.

When the man refused, he was struck in the jaw. His attackers then escaped with his wallet.

The man alighted at Homebush West and contacted police.

One of the offenders is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, aged about 18 to 19 years, 183 centimetres tall, with a thin build and short, dark hair. He was wearing a black hooded jumper over a white shirt and blue jeans.

The second man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged 23 to 24 years, 190 centimetres tall, with a medium build and short, dark hair. He was wearing a blue T-shirt and dark pants.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Flemington Police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
