Detectives investigating the attempted theft of money from an ATM on Sydney’s North Shore overnight have appealed to the public for information.
About 2.50am today emergency services were alerted to reports of an explosion in Miller Street at Cammeray.
Investigations revealed an attempt to access a free standing ATM in shops had been unsuccessful.
However, it appears the explosion did cause minor damage to surrounding premises.
Police from Harbourside Local Area Command believe the machine was not accessed and no money was taken.
Witnesses reported that three men were seen running from the area to a vehicle.
It is believed they left the area in a dark coloured car.
Officers from Harbourside LAC are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
