Three men will face robbery charges on the state’s Central Coast today following an investigation by the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad.
Detectives from Strike Force Army have been conducting inquiries into the armed robbery of a club on Hibbard Street, Toukley, last year.
Three masked men entered the club about 10.45pm on Sunday 27 November 2011. It’s alleged they demanded money from three male staff members and threatened them with a screw driver.
The offenders then escaped the premises with a large amount of cash and a mobile phone.
As a result of Strike Force Army investigations, police yesterday (Sunday 8 January 2012) arrested three men at the intersection of the F3 and Pacific Highway, Ourimbah.
A 30-year-old Busby man and a 29-year-old Blacktown man were subsequently charged with robbery whilst armed with offensive weapon. They were also charged with conspiracy to rob two other clubs at Budgewoi and Ourimbah, as well as armed with intent to commit indictable offence and possess disguise with intent to commit indictable offence.
Both were refused bail to appear at Wyong Local Court today (9 January 2012).
A 24-year-old Doonside man was also charged with conspiracy to rob clubs at Budgewoi and Ourimbah, as well as armed with intent to commit indictable offence and possess disguise with intent to commit indictable offence.
This man will also appear in Wyong Local Court today.
Strike Force Army was formed to investigate armed-robbery offences at licenced premises. It comprises officers from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad.
