Police have charged a man following an armed robbery at a convenience store in Brisbane City early this morning.

Just after 12.30am two men allegedly walked into the business on George Street and threatened the male employee with a knife.

The attendant allegedly handed over a quantity of cigarettes before the pair fled the scene.

A 17-year-old from Loganlea has been charged with one count of armed robbery. He is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.

Investigations are continuing.
