Police are investigating a break-in at a Foodland supermarket on Shannon Road, Birdwood overnight.
At about 2.55am, a member of the public phoned police and reported seeing a man speed off from the scene in a white car while the audible alarms were going off.
Police arrived and the noticed the front glass sliding doors had been jemmied and cigarettes stolen – both cartons and individual packets.
A search of the area failed to locate any suspects.
The car seen driving away from the scene is described as a white VN or VS Commodore or a Holden Statesman with distinctive shiny mag wheels.
The first three letters of the registration were (SA) XSO.
The car was last seen heading towards Gumeracha on the Mannum to Adelaide Road.
The driver was the only occupant in the car and is described as a Caucasian man, solid build with a shaved head.
