A service station attendant has been hospitalised after being assaulted during a robbery at West Pymble, on Sydney’s north shore, this morning.

Just after 5am today (Thursday 2 February 2012), three men confronted the 21-year-old man as he was opening the Yanko Road service station.

He was struck from behind with an unknown object before the trio gained access to the business and stole cash and cigarettes.

The offenders fled the scene in a silver-coloured Subaru Forrester four-wheel-drive.

It was last seen travelling towards Ryde Road.

Police from Kuring-Gai Local Area Command and NSW Ambulance Paramedics responded to the incident.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment of a minor head injury.

 He has since been released.

Inquiries into the robbery are ongoing.
