Police are currently investigating the robbery of a take-away food restaurant on the Gold Coast Highway at Burleigh Heads last night.

Initial information suggests around 6.45pm a man entered the store approached the counter and demanded money. It is unclear if the man was carrying a weapon.

The employee complied and the man fled the store on foot in an unknown direction.

No one was physically injured as a result.

The man is described as being Caucasian in appearance, approximately 175cms tall with a muscular build. He was wearing a white hooded jumper, baseball cap, sunglasses and jeans.

Police investigations into the incident are continuing.
