Police are investigating the armed robbery of a service station in Sydney’s south overnight.
Just after 7pm yesterday (Thursday 14 June 2012), a man walked into the service station on King Georges Road, South Hurstville, and threatened a 28-year-old male staff member with a firearm, demanding cash.
The man had placed a large packet of toilet paper near the front door to prevent it from closing.
The staff member handed over a sum of cash before the man, who had his face concealed with a balaclava, fled on foot.
He was last seen on Taunton Street heading towards Woniora Road.
Police were notified and attended a short time later establishing a crime scene that was examined by specialist forensic officers.
Detectives from Hurstville Local Area Command are investigating the incident and would like to speak to a man who they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.
He is described as being of a medium build with olive skin and was wearing a black jacket and blue jeans at the time.
