In June 2012, police from Eastern Beaches Local Area Command established Strike Force Forestdale to investigate an armed robbery at a Malabar Golf Club. About 9.45pm on 31 May 2012, the manager was approached by two masked men in the club’s car park after he had closed for the night. The men, who were armed with a handgun and knife, threatened the manager and demanded he open the club’s safe. The manager later opened the safe and the armed men fled the scene with a large sum of cash and property. Numerous items associated with the robbery have been recovered by police and have been sent to scientific police for forensic analysis.
