Police are investigating the attempted armed robbery of a taxi driver at Mackay last evening.

Shortly before 10pm the male driver pulled over in Kenilworth Street to pick up a fare.

A man, armed with a syringe, entered the cab and demanded cash.

The driver refused and the man fled empty handed.

The man is described as approximately 180cms tall with a slim build. He was wearing a brown jumper and had his face covered.

No one was injured and police investigations are continuing
