Metropolitan Robbery Unit detectives have charged a man following a string of armed robberies over recent months in south west Sydney.
About 2.15pm yesterday (Tuesday 17 July 2012), an 18-year-old man was arrested in Airds.
It will be alleged the man was involved in 10 armed robberies of venues including service stations, bottle shops, a newsagent and a home between May and July 2012.
A search warrant was executed on the man’s home by police attached to Metropolitan Robbery Unit, Campbelltown and Macquarie Fields Local Area Commands, where it is alleged a number of items used in the robberies, including a meat cleaver and baseball bat were discovered.
The man was taken to Campbelltown Police Station where he was charged with a number of offences including 10 counts of Armed Robbery with an Offensive Weapon.
He was bail refused and will appear in Campbelltown Local Court today (Wednesday 18 July 2012).
