Good old fashioned policing by Melbourne East and St Kilda Road members has led to a lightning fast arrest this morning.
A staff member reported an attempted armed robbery at a convenience store in Bourke Street around 4.20am.
Investigators were told a man disguised with a scarf and armed with a metal pole and umbrella handle attempted to hold up the store two minutes earlier.
Police responded quickly, patrolling nearby streets in search of the would-be robber.
They arrested an 18-year-old man on Flinders Street less than ten minutes later.
The man is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
