Two men have been charged following two alleged armed robberies and a car-jacking in Sydney’s south and west overnight.

About 11pm (Monday 6 August 2012), four men approached the driver of a red Holden Commodore in the car park of a fast food restaurant on Port Hacking Road at Sylvania.

The 39-year-old man, who was waiting for his son to finish work, was allegedly threatened with a gun and ordered out of his car.

Police will allege the four men, who were also armed with a pistol and machete, forced the man inside the restaurant where they held a gun to his head and demanded the store manager hand over money.

One of the offenders fled with a sum of cash, while the others allegedly assaulted two staff members who were lying on the floor.

The group then fled in the Commodore and police were alerted.

Officers attached to Miranda Local Area Command attended, established a crime scene and began an investigation.

No one was injured during the incident.

Shortly after midnight (Tuesday 7 August 2012), Leichhardt Police responded to reports of an armed robbery at a hotel on Parramatta Road, Leichhardt.

Police have been told three men entered the hotel with their faces concealed and armed with a hatchet.

The trio threatened patrons and staff members, demanding they hand over cash and personal items.

A female patron was allegedly threatened with the hatchet while a man was struck with a chair.

Police attended and arrested two men – aged 26 and 18 –at the scene.

They were taken to Leichhardt Police Station where they were charged a short time ago in relation to both robberies.

They were each charged with the following offences:

  • Aggravated assault with intent to take/drive motor vehicle in company (two counts);
