One man is in custody and another man has suffered minor injuries after a robbery at Botany hotel this afternoon.

Police were called to the Botany Road premises about 5.15pm today (Tuesday 7 August 2012)

They were told three men, who had their faces covered, made their way into the hotel.

One of them had a firearm. Patrons and staff were threatened by the men.

A scuffle ensued and during a struggle with one of the offenders the firearm has discharged.

No one was injured from the firearm discharging.

Two of the male offenders ran from the building and were last seen running south along Botany Road towards Port Botany.

The third man was detained by patrons. One of the patrons received a minor head wound during the scuffle. He has been taken hospital for treatment.

The offender has been taken to hospital and remains under police guard. It is anticipated he will be interviewed once medical clearance is given.
