Police have charged a man in relation to an armed robbery which left a hotel patron with minor injuries at Botany yesterday afternoon.
About 5.10pm (Tuesday 7 August), police were alerted to reports an armed robbery was in progress at a hotel on Botany Road.
Two males with their faces covered entered the hotel armed with a firearm and threatened staff.
The firearm discharged during a struggle with several pub patrons but nobody was injured.
One of the males ran from the hotel, while the other was detained by the patrons at the hotel.
One of the patrons, a man aged about 50, suffered a minor wound to his hand during the scuffle. He was taken to hospital but has since been released.
Police from Botany Bay Local Area Command arrested the 19-year-old at the hotel.
He was taken to hospital under police guard and treated for minor head injuries.
The man has been released into the custody of police and interviewed at Botany Bay Police Station.
He has been charged with number of offences including armed robbery and malicious wounding.
The man has been refused bail and will appear at Waverley Local Court later today.
Police examined the crime scene and investigations are underway to identify the other man involved.
