Detectives investigating the alleged armed robberies of taxi and bus drivers in Sydney’s west earlier this month have arrested and charged four males.

Just after 8.30pm on Thursday 4 October, a taxi driver received a booking to collect four people from Hollingsworth Road at Marsden Park.

Police will allege four males entered the taxi before putting novelty masks on and threatening the driver with a knife. The group demanded money before fleeing with a sum of cash.

In the second incident, about 11.45pm on Saturday 6 October 2012, four males got on a bus at the Mt Druitt bus and rail interchange.

Three of the males got off the bus at Bidwill, however it’s alleged the fourth remained on it before threatening the male driver with a knife and stealing cash.

About 10pm on Sunday 7 October 2012, a bus collected two males on Carlisle Avenue at Bidwill.

Police will allege the two males threatened the driver with a knife, demanding he empty the till, before they fled with all his takings.

Detectives attached to Mt Druitt Local Area Command have been investigating all three incidents, which are alleged to be linked.

Following inquiries, and information received, police today (Thursday 11 October 2012) executed three search warrants at homes on Caparris Circuit, Melanie Street and Tongariro Terrace at Bidwill.

A number of items were seized.

Four males – aged 19, 17 and two aged 18 – were arrested at the homes and taken to Mt Druitt Police Station where they were charged with multiple counts of robbery armed with an offensive weapon.

All four were bail refused to appear before Mt Druitt Local Court tomorrow (Friday 12 October 2012).
