A man will face court today after allegedly robbing a woman at gunpoint in a shopping car park in Sydney’s north west.

Around 3.30pm yesterday (Friday 2 November 2012), a 33-year-old woman was sitting in her vehicle in a car park on Glen Street, Eastwood, when she was approached by a man.

It will be alleged the man produced a handgun and demanded she hand over her bag. The man then allegedly took the woman’s wallet and smart phone before fleeing the scene.

Eastwood Police were alerted to the incident and responded quickly, issuing a description of the man via police radio.

A short time later, general duties officers arrested a 30-year-old man on nearby Rutledge Street.

He was taken to Ryde Police Station and subsequently charged with armed robbery.

The man from Old Guildford was bail refused and will appear at Parramatta Local Court later today (Saturday 3 November 2012).
