Police are investigating the attempted armed robbery of a bowling club near Lake Macquarie last night. About 11pm (Wednesday 7 November), two female employees of the club on Park Street in Edgeworth were standing in the car park after closing time when they were approached by two males. Armed with a knife and a steel pole, they demanded the employees let them inside the club. When the employees told them they did not have the keys, the males ran from the area. Police were called to the area and established a perimeter. A search was carried out with the use of a police dog which tracked the males onto Arnott Street. Police were able to recover the steel pole which had been thrown into a garden bed. It will be sent for forensic analysis. Investigators think the males left the scene in a car on Arnott Street and believe the incident could be linked to the armed robbery of a bowling club at Boolaroo earlier this week. Both men were wearing black hooded jumpers and long black pants. They had their faces covered with black cloth and are around 175 to 180cm tall with tanned skin.
