A 23-year-old Upper Coomera woman has been charged following an attempted armed robbery of a convenience store overnight.

Just after 6pm, a woman entered a store on Brygon Creek Road, Upper Coomera, and allegedly demanded cash while indicating she was armed with a weapon.

The store attendant has managed to flee the store and seek assistance from nearby shop workers who have helped contain the woman within the store.

The woman has been charged with one count of armed robbery and is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today.
