A 30-year-old man, formerly living in Labrador, has been charged by Task Force Resolve and Gold Coast detectives following investigations into two robberies in Coomera during 2010.

The man has been charged with being an accessory after the fact to the armed robberies of the Coomera Lodge Hotel and the Parkwood Tavern in 2010.

He is scheduled to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court this morning.

It is alleged around 11pm on April 26, 2010, two males, one armed with a handgun, have entered the Coomera Lodge Hotel and confronted staff.

The two men have allegedly demanded staff open a safe before leaving them bound with duct tape and cable ties, and fleeing the scene with a sum of cash.

On August 9, 2010, it is also alleged around 3.45am Parkwood Tavern security staff were confronted by three men armed with what appeared to be a handgun,a shotgun and a double-barrel shotgun.

The men have allegedly tied up the security officers and the manager before fleeing with a significant sum of money from the safe.

In other operations, Task Force Resolve members supported by Special Emergency Response Team officers conducted a planned interception and apprehended a 37-year-old man at the intersection of Turpin and Musgrave Roads in Southport yesterday.

The man has been taken into custody on a return to prison warrant for breaching his parole in relation to serious housebreaking offences.

Detective Superintendent John Sheppard of State Crime Operations Command’s Organised Crime Group said the apprehension of these two men during unrelated operations is a significant step forward in the task force’s investigations.

“The fact that both of these people are in custody and off the streets is a positive outcome in terms of the safety of the community,” he said.

The investigations remain on going and police have not ruled out further charges.
