Police are investigating the theft of an ATM during a ram raid on Sydney’s north shore this morning.

About 3am, a 4WD was driven through the front glass doors of a supermarket on Bobbin Head Road at North Turramurra.

Four people then dislodged the free-standing ATM from inside the closed supermarket and loaded into the rear of a white van.

The thieves then drove from the scene in the van, leaving the 4WD behind.

Police from Kuring-gai Local Area Command established a crime scene and it was examined by officers from the Forensic Armed Robbery Unit.

The 4WD has been seized and will also undergo forensic examination.
