Police in the state’s north west are investigating the robbery of a licensed club during which three people were detained.
About 10pm last night (Sunday 28 August 2011), three men wearing balaclavas attended a home in Madden Street, Cobar.
They broke into the home and confronted the 59-year-old male resident. They tied the man up and forced him into his car, a silver Ford Falcon sedan.
They drove the man to a licensed premises on Bloxham Street, Cobar, where he works.
They waited in the car park with the victim for a period of time until the club neared closing time, and forced entry into the auditorium, taking the victim with them.
Just after the club closed, the three men confronted two female employees, and bound them using cable ties. All three victims were then detained in the office area as the three men ransacked the club, stealing cash from a safe and poker machines, as well as sporting memorabilia.
The males left in the initial victim’s Ford Falcon, which was later found burnt out on Prince Street.
Police from Darling River Local Area Command are investigating the incident and have established a crime scene.
Anyone with information on the incident should contact Cobar Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
