Detectives from the Regional Investigations Unit have charged two men – a 19 year old

Spearwood man and a 28 year old Hamilton Hill man over an aggravated armed robbery at

Simon’s Lunch Bar in Willagee on Monday 1 August 2011.

It will be alleged that about 1.00am, the 19 year old man entered the store armed with a meat

cleaver.

He jumped onto the counter and struck the 68 year old male store owner with the weapon,

striking him in the eye.

The blow knocked the man unconscious and he fell to the ground, breaking his wrist.

It will be further alleged the man stole the cash register and fled the store in a vehicle driven

by the second man.

Both men were charged with offences including Aggravated Armed Robbery and Aggravated

Unlawful Wounding.

They will appear before the Fremantle Magistrate’s Court this morning.
