A third security guard will face court next month charged over the assault of a man at a popular George Street nightspot at the weekend.
Strike Force Goldsworthy, comprising detectives from The Rocks, and specialist officers from Central Metropolitan Region, has been established to investigate an assault that occurred at a hotel on George Street about 2am on Sunday 28 August 2011.
A 19-year-old man and his friends were ejected from the licensed premises about 1.30am.
They returned to the hotel a short time later and allegedly became involved in a fight with security staff.
The alleged victim was detained by guards and separated from the rest of the group.
It will be alleged he was held down, repeatedly kicked and punched and gagged.
The teenager was then allegedly taken to a basement security area where the assault continued.
Police and NSW Ambulance Paramedics responded to the incident and the alleged victim was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital suffering severe facial injuries.
Two men, aged 24 and 30 were arrested at the scene and subsequently charged with wounding/grievous bodily harm with intent.
The third security officer, aged 42, was charged at Campsie Police Station yesterday (Monday 29 August 2011) with causing grievous bodily harm to person with intent.
He was given conditional bail and will appear in Burwood Local Court on September 22.
Inquiries are continuing.
