Toowoomba police this morning arrested a 23-year-old Newtown man and charged him with attempted armed robbery whilst armed following investigations into an attempted robbery of a Newtown bottleshop on August 28.

It will be alleged that a man armed with a knife entered the Anzac Avenue business shortly after 6.30pm and demanded cash from a male attendant. He fled empty handed after the employee refused to hand over any money.

The man is due to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court tomorrow
