Police investigating recent armed robberies in the Brisbane area today charged a 27-year-old Logan man with 11 counts of armed robbery, and a second man and woman with two counts of armed robbery. In total police charged four people with a combined total of 36 offences.
Officers from Upper Mount Gravatt Criminal Investigation Branch commenced Operation Juliet Burnout investigating links between 11 armed robbery offences which occurred between September 4 and 26.
Police will allege that during the armed robberies a man armed with a knife, and on some occasions a second man, stole cash and goods from various Brisbane businesses before fleeing in a stolen vehicle. It will be also be alleged that in some instances a woman assisted the pair in fleeing from the scenes.
No one was injured during the robberies.
Detectives from Operation Juliet Burnout were investigating the following armed robberies:
September 4 – convenience store on Logan Road, Upper Mount Gravatt
September 14 – convenience store on Freda Street, Upper Mount Gravatt
September 16 – convenience store on Kingston Road, Slacks Creek
September 17 – fast food outlet, Beaudesert Road, Moorooka
September 19 – convenience store, Logan Road, Holland Park
September 19 – convenience store, Joseph Banks Road, Forest Lake
September 21 – convenience store, Belmore Drive, Rochedale South
September 21 – fast food restaurant, Old Logan Road, Camira
September 25 – convenience store, Fairfield Road, Yeronga
September 26 – food outlet, Birkdale Road, Birkdale
September 26 – liquor outlet, Wynne Street, Sunnybank Hills
The 27-year-old man was also charged with five counts of stealing, one of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, enter premises with intent, evade police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failing to fulfill duties at a traffic accident.
The men, both from Logan and aged 27 and 24, and a 28-year-old woman also from Logan have been held in custody and are due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow.
A 32-year-old Riverview woman was issued with a Notice to Appear and is due to appear in the Richlands Magistrates Court on October 20, where she faces two charges of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property.
