Police are investigating a robbery in Bentleigh yesterday morning where a woman in her seventies was dragged and robbed in a suburban laneway.

Around 9.30am the 72-year-old victim was taking money to the bank via a laneway, adjacent to a car park at the rear of the Centre Road shopping strip when she was attacked.

The alleged offender was dressed in a reflective vest and baseball cap and was arranging witches hats and signage in the laneway which police believe may have been stolen.

The man grabbed the bag the woman was carrying and dragged her along the ground until she lost grip of the weekend takings.

He fled east along the laneway, running across Jasper Road and has not been located.

The woman from East Bentleigh suffered bruising and abrasions and was extremely shaken after the incident.

Investigators have released an image of a man they believe can assist with their enquiries.
