Police from Holroyd Local Area Command are appealing for witnesses following an alleged armed robbery at Westmead last night.

About 7.50pm (Wednesday 16 November 2011), three men armed with knives entered a bottle shop on Hawkesbury Road, where two employees and a customer were standing at the front counter.

The group allegedly threatened the occupants with the knives, with one man allegedly assaulting the customer by pushing him to the ground.

Another man allegedly assaulted the store owner, pushing him into a wine bottle display and then dragging him into another room.

A third man allegedly threatened the store employee behind the counter to open a cash register.

He then stole an amount of cash, cigarettes and alcohol from the store.

All three men fled the shop on foot.

Officers from Holroyd LAC attended the bottle shop and established a crime scene.

The three men have been described as wearing dark clothing and balaclavas.

Detectives are investigating the robbery and are appealing for anyone that noticed anything suspicious in the area to contact police.
